Officials say Kennedy-Johnson and Jones were on school grounds at Lincoln High School to fight a student on a bus.

Officials say two Warren police officers attempted to arrest Jones when he resisted, causing them all to fall to the ground.

As they struggled to bring Jones under control, the 17-year-old and Kennedy-Johnson assaulted the officer, who was admitted to the hospital in serious condition.

Officials say the 17-year-old Eastpointe resident was charged with assaulting, resisting, and obstructing a police officer causing injury (four-year felony), two counts of assaulting, resisting and obstructing a police officer (two-year felony), malicious destruction of property $200 or more but less than $1,000 (one-year misdemeanor) and disturbing the peace (90-day misdemeanor).

A preliminary hearing occurred in the Macomb County Juvenile Court, where the judge granted the Macomb County Prosecutor’s request to deny bond and hold the 17-year-old in the Juvenile Justice Center.

Kennedy-Johnson of Eastpointe was charged with assault with intent to do great bodily harm less than murder (10-year felony), assaulting, resisting, obstructing a police officer causing injury (four-year felony), malicious destruction of property $200 or more but less than $1,000 (one-year misdemeanor) and disorderly person (90-day misdemeanor).

The Eastpointe resident is scheduled to be arraigned Wednesday in Warren District Court.

Demarr Jones of Warren was charged with three counts of assaulting, resisting, obstructing a police officer (two-year felonies), and disorderly person (90-day misdemeanor).

He is scheduled to be arraigned Wednesday in Warren District Court.

“Our police officers risk their lives every day to keep our community safe, and violence against them is unacceptable in a civil society. Such actions will be met with the full force of the law,” said Macomb County Prosecutor Peter J. Lucido.
