PORT HURON, Mich. – A police officer in Port Huron is facing charges after reportedly driving drunk.

According to authorities, an off-duty Port Huron police officer was arrested May 3 after an investigation into allegations of operating a vehicle while intoxicated. The officer was lodged at the St. Clair County Intervention and Detention Center until they were sober and then released.

The St. Clair County Prosecutor’s Office authorized charges against the officer Wednesday, May 8.

The officer, who police have not yet identified to the public, has been charged with operating a vehicle while intoxicated. He has been placed on administrative leave while police investigate the incident internally.
