Tigers announce 2013 home schedule

Home Opener slated for April 5 versus New York Yankees

The Detroit Tigers released their 2013 home schedule Wednesday, which features 81 games at Comerica Park, including contests against American League Central Division rivals, Interleague games against the Atlanta Braves, Pittsburgh Pirates, Philadelphia Phillies and Washington Nationals, as well as a season-opening series against the New York Yankees.


A charter member of the American League since 1901, the Tigers will begin their 113th season on the road with a three-game series at Minnesota before the club returns home to Comerica Park to face the Yankees in a three-game series April 5-7 at Comerica Park. The series will mark the first time the Tigers have opened the home schedule against the Yankees since winning two of three from New York to open the 1991 season. The club also welcomes the Toronto Blue Jays during the season-opening homestand for a three-game series April 9-11.

The Tigers home schedule features four Interleague visits, including a three-game series against the Braves April 26-28, a two-game series against the Pirates May 27-28, a three-game series against the Phillies July 26-28 and a two-game series against the Nationals July 30-31.The home schedule will feature 10 games against National League opponents, 16 games against American League East opponents, 17 games against American League West opponents and 38 games against American League Central rivals.
