Michigan routs Central Michigan in season opener 59-9

Michigan beat Central 59-9 Saturday in season opener at the Big House

ANN ARBOR, Mich. – Devin Gardner passed for 162 yards and a touchdown, plus ran for two more scores as Michigan beat Central Michigan 59-9 Saturday. 

Gardner was less than perfect early, throwing two interceptions, but he and the Wolverine offense quickly calmed down to put 35 points on the board in the first half.

Gardner finished 10-15, 162 yards.  He rushed for 52 yards.

Fitzgerald Toussaint rushed for 57 yards and two touchdowns. Thomas Rawls, and freshman Derrick Green each got into the endzone.

The Maize and Blue opened up the scoring in the first quarter with a Dymonte Thomas blocked punt, which was returned 30 yards by Joe Reynolds for a touchdown.

Gardner found Jeremy Gallon in the endzone in the 2nd quarter for his only touchdown through the air.

Central Michigan's only offense came from their kicker, Ron Coluzzi, who connected on three field goals.

Brady Hoke and the  Wolverines have won 15 games in a row at the Big House.
