Blue Jackets sign Plymouth Whalers' Sonny Milano to entry level contract

PLYMOUTH, Mich. – The Columbus Blue Jackets have signed Plymouth Whalers left wing Sonny Milano to an entry-level contract, the Blue Jackets announced Thursday.

Milano was selected 16th overall by Columbus in the 2014 NHL Entry Draft. Just recently he decided to forgo his college eligibility and instead play in the OHL with the Whalers.

"Sonny Milano is a skilled, dynamic player and we're very happy to add him to the exciting group of prospects within our organization," said Blue Jackets GM Jarmo Kekalainen, in a news release. "We are looking forward to watching his development and helping him grow both on and off the ice in the years to come."

Milano has been enjoying some early success in Plymouth with teammate Mathew Campagna.
