Plymouth Whalers 2014-15 season begins with alumni game this weekend

Whalers release full schedule ahead of alumni game

PLYMOUTH, Mich. – The Plymouth Whalers will begin the 2014-15 pre-season with an alumni game on Saturday at Compuware Arena.

The team has announced its full schedule, which can be downloaded here.

The alumni game is at 4 p.m. Saturday. National Hockey League players Tyler Seguin (Dallas Stars), former Detroit Red Wings forward David Legwand (now playing with the Ottawa Senators), Brett Bellemore (Carolina Hurricanes) and Matt Hackett (Buffalo Sabres) all have committed to appear. However, Hackett is currently injured and will not play, but he will participate.

The alumni will be participating in an autograph session from 2-3:30 p.m. at Compuware Arena.

The Whalers finished this past season with a 28-33-0-7 record (63 points). Although disappointing, it was enough to get them into the playoffs where they met the heavily-favored Guelph Storm (52-12-2-2, 108 points) in the first round. The Storm handled them in five games and proceeded to march through the playoffs all the way to the Memorial Cup.
