Olympics Opening Ceremony summer's No. 1 show; Watch highlights from Rio's spectacular start

The 2016 Olympic Games started with a rousing Opening Ceremony in Rio that captivated the world's attention. 

"The Opening Ceremonies in Rio took on a real Carnival feel and in the process ran much longer than originally scheduled," said Amy Binder, research director for WDIV Local 4.

The five-plus-hour Opening Ceremony broadcast garnered its top viewership between 8 to 10:15pm averaging nearly a half a million total viewers, according to Nielsen data. Also as expected, it was the Summer’s No. 1-rated event, handily beating out the NBA Finals, Detroit Tigers baseball and the All-Star game.
