SLIDESHOW: Flooded highway strands trucker

There he was, stuck on top of his semi truck that was loaded with 44,000 pounds of potatoes.

Jenkins, of Kalkaska, told Local 4 he was fine and was headed to a produce market in Detroit. Suddenly, Brandon said, the stretch of southbound I-75 near Interstate 69 turned into a lake.

"I've been in bad snowstorms and I have seen some water flood over the road just a little bit, but I've never seen anything in my life like that," Jenkins said.

That's when he took matter into his own hands.

"I just got up on top of the truck to stay dry," he said. "The Flint River actually flooded and pushed water to us."

Help finally arrived but the only way to get him down was by boat.

"Nothing I could do about it. Just hang out and enjoy the scenery, I guess," Jenkins said.

While we were on the phone with Brandon he gave Local 4 a wave a smile to let everyone know he was OK.

"Nope. They're not getting potatoes for dinner," he said. "It could have been a lot worse and I was just thankful that everything went good and everybody was safe, nobody was injured."

Jenkins sad the potatoes were ruined and the truck is a total loss.
