Cool start to the first day of Summer in SE Michigan

Summer has arrived!  A cooler start to your Hump Day around Metro Detroit with Wednesday morning temps in the low and mid 50s and a few of our northern suburbs may dip quickly into the 40s before warming up.

The first day of Summer will deliver sunshine and warming weather through the day with highs in the upper 70s to near 80 degrees. Winds are lighter today WNW 5-10 mph.

A warm front will start to move in Thursday morning bringing some early morning rain and thundershowers. You will notice heat and humidity on the rise temporarily as highs hit the low to mid 80s after morning showers. The Storm Prediction Center has placed SE Lower Michigan under a Slight Risk for severe weather tomorrow with the heat of the afternoon. A cold front will be sliding through late Thursday into early Friday and this could bring our best chance for some soaking showers. Those showers will be early Friday and could really impact the Friday morning drive or anyone heading out of town for the weekend. Then, a few scattered showers into the afternoon and highs again in the low 80s.

Slightly cooler air arrives for GM River Days this weekend and it looks like Saturday is the better weekend day with scattered showers likely on Sunday. Highs both days will be in the mid to upper 70s. The Ford Fireworks Monday should be dry. One model brings in some afternoon showers, but other data suggests a nice mix of sun and clouds with temps in the low to mid 70s.  You can track radar and stay ahead of the showers and storms with our Local4Casters app.
