Flat Rock, Dearborn Heights declare snow emergencies

Roads reopening after morning accidents

DETROIT – Flat Rock has declared a snow emergency, starting at 3 p.m. Sunday.

Dearborn Heights has also issued a snow emergency, with no end specified.

The most recent snowfall has caused several accidents on roads and highways. Roads that were closed include:

Westbound I-696 at Groesbeck -- REOPENED (Images: More than 30-car wreck)

Eastbound I-96 at Middlebelt -- REOPENED

Northbound I-75 at 14 mile -- REOPENED

Monroe County is warning the public about road conditions caused by winter weather, including ice, freezing rain, sleet, blowing and drifting snow and more. The Monroe Country Road Commission has upgraded the previous weather advisory to a level 2 watch.

County roads are hazardous with winter conditions. The county advises that only those that must be on the roads should drive, but with extreme caution.
