Metro Detroit weather: Heading towards the 60s

DETROIT – We start with clouds on this Wednesday morning protecting the area from a dramatic drop in temperatures with a thin blanket of insolation.

So, temps in the upper 30s to low 40s as you head out with sunshine on the way. Metro Detroit skies will be clearing from south to north between 8am and 10am, and we will get a good deal of sunshine with highs heading to near 60 degrees this afternoon and light winds WNW 5-12 mph.

A cloudy Thursday with a slight chance for a late morning or midday showers, mainly in our North Zone or north of M 59. Other than that, a few sprinkles midday and with the clouds, Metro Detroit will only manage to see or feel mid to upper 50s.

Good Friday looks good to go with sunshine to start and clouds filling in through the afternoon and/or evening. The duration of sun will determine our high temperatures to end the work and school week as we anticipate temps around or just warmer than 60 degrees. Those high clouds are a sign of a slight change for the Easter Weekend.

A surge of warmer air on Saturday brings Detroit area temps well into the 70s, but there’s a good chance for some scattered showers coming and going. The winds will start cranking in warm air and with a couple hours of sun and/or rain free skies… we could see 80 degrees in a few spots. Easter Sunday may start with some light showers delaying the Easter Egg Hunts until 8 or 9am and then improving conditions. We should be into the 70s again with breezy conditions either way. We’ll keep you posted as we get closer. You can always stay ahead of the Spring showers with our Local4Casters app.
