Metro Detroit weather: Heat is on

Temperatures hit the mid 80s this afternoon, and will likely be the coolest highs we see in the first half of the week.

Humidity will be noticeable tonight as temperatures drop only to around 70.  Winds will be calm.

We're under an Air Quality Alert on Tuesday.  Ozone levels will be high, so limit your outdoor physical activity.  Highs will hit the mid 90s before thunderstorm chances arrive closer to sunset.  There are a lot of factors working against storms forming, so I think I lot of us will remain dry.

Wednesday, humidity will be even higher.  Dewpoints will move into the low 70s in spots, which are oppressive levels of humidity.  Add to that another 90-degree finish, and the heat index will likely end up in the mid 90s.  Thunderstorms will again be possible.  Chances are better and storms will likely be stronger with severe weather not out of the question.

Thursday may start out with a few thunderstorms before a cold front ends our rain chances for the forseeable future.  Cooler, less humid air will be rolling in behind it.  But highs will still reach the 80s through the remainder of the 10 Day Forecast.
