Metro Detroit weather: Mild Monday with highs close to 50 degrees

DETROIT – A very nice day to head back to work and back to school with dry conditions on your Monday around Metro Detroit.

Temperatures in the low to mid 30s as you head out and sunshine will bring highs close to 50 degrees this afternoon. Our South Zone may get a bit more cloud cover from a system passing to our south with winds SSW 5-13 mph.

We start Tuesday with scattered rain showers moving in before sunrise. Temps will be in the mid to upper 30s, so moisture should all be liquid and not frozen, but we need to be prepared for a brief wintry mix early tomorrow in a few spots.

Showers will linger through the day with a few cloudy breaks and temps on the rise into the low or even mid 50s. Winds will be a bit breezy SSE 5-15 mph gusting to 20 mph and there is a chance for a few stronger thunderstorms near the Ohio border Tuesday afternoon.

The mild and moist air lingers Wednesday with more rain showers likely. Cooler air comes our way late in the day and that could switch rain to snow as we head into early Thursday. At least one computer model brings some measurable snow Thursday morning and we will keep you posted if this looks to verify over the next day or two.

Either way, cooler temps Thursday and Friday mainly in the 20s to mid 30s. Despite a calm start to the week, things will be getting active and you can bring Metro Detroit weather with you with the Local4Casters app.
