Metro Detroit weather: Subzero wind chills

Colder weather tomorrow

DETROIT – A cold start as you head out around Metro Detroit on this Monday morning.

Wind chills are subzero and as temps struggle today, we will see most of the morning and evening with subzero wind chills. Otherwise, mostly sunny today and highs in the mid teens. Winds are manageable SW 5-12 mph.

The weather service may issue a Wind Chill Advisory for Tuesday morning as the cold air stays locked in overnight and the winds will be picking up. Morning lows in the low single digits or colder and winds through tomorrow SW 10-20 mph will keep those morning wind chills dangerously in the -10 to -15° F making it a dangerous cold. We should see plenty of sun tomorrow too and highs will take off a bit into the mid and upper 20s.

Clouds increase Wednesday afternoon ahead of a snow chance Wednesday night and early Thursday. This should be a dusting to maybe an inch into Thursday morning. Highs Wednesday and Thursday will be in the low 30s and possibly warmer than that on Thursday depending on when the snow leaves. We have a chance for snow on Christmas Eve and Christmas Day, but it may be warm enough this weekend for a wintry mix too, so stay tuned. You can stay ahead of the snow and cold with the Local4Casters app and take the weather with you.
