Metro Detroit weather: Temperatures stay mild Wednesday

Highs reach 50 degrees near Ohio state line

DETROIT – Last week's temperatures in the 40s (and 50s) are about to leave Metro Detroit high and dry.

Skies will remain cloudy Tuesday night with light winds. Temperatures are still firmly on the mild side for late January. We'll see lows around freezing by daybreak, which is what we normally get for high temperatures this time of year.

Wednesday will start cloudy with showers developing in the afternoon. We'll see a pretty wide range in high temperatures from 50 near the Ohio state line to the mid-30s in our North Zone. Our 4ZONE forecast has a breakdown of those numbers.

We will have one more day in the 40s Thursday, but before we get to that mark, snow (remember what that looks like?) showers will greet us during the morning commute. No significant accumulation is expected, though. We'll be cloudy and dry in the afternoon.

A few flakes might be around on Friday through the weekend, but we'll spend more time dry, and you guessed it, under cloudy skies until Sunday. We might get a few peeks of sunshine then, but a better chance for some sun arrives Monday.

This is all coming with a return to normal temperatures. Check out the 10-day forecast to see how chilly we get.
