Metro Detroit weather: Temps in the teens

Winter Weather Advisory starting at 5p.m, for North Zone

DETROIT – Temps in the teens as you head out and about around SE Lower Michigan and the Detroit Metro Area on a Tuesday morning. The wind chills are in the single digits and will likely stay there most of the day.

The winds begin to pick up coming from the North 10-20 mph gusting over 30 mph from time to time. This will lead to some blowing snow on the roads, and an occasional lake effect snow band from Lake Huron which can be very tricky and dangerous. Highs hit the low and maybe mid 20s but feel much colder all day.

We have a Winter Weather Advisory starting at 5 PM in St. Clair, Sanilac, and Huron Counties for heavier lake effect snow bands that could throw down 2-5” of snow tonight in spots if not a bit more. We urge anyone living or traveling around Port Huron tonight to be very careful as travel is the big concern once again.

Wednesday morning temperatures start in the teens with wind chills at times tomorrow subzero! The afternoon warms only a little bit as we anticipate some more sunshine or at least a mix of sun and clouds. The winds still howling NW 10-20 mph with some stronger gusts. The heavier lake effect snow bands will be moving more and more into Southern Ontario. Highs should hit the mid to maybe upper 20s again feeling near zero all day.

Thursday will be brighter and warmer with partly cloudy to mostly sunny and highs getting into the mid 30s. We may see 40 degrees Friday but skies fill with clouds through the late morning and afternoon and we will get a late wintry mix of rain and snow changing to snow Friday night. We could see some accumulation so stay tuned.  You can always bring the Metro Detroit weather with you with our Local4Casters app.
