Metro Detroit weather: Record lows overnight

Coming off the hottest day of the year on Monday (we hit 94 degrees!), we’re now looking at record LOW temperatures tonight.

Clouds will be thinning out, leaving us with clear skies overnight.  That, plus low humidity and light winds, temperatures will allow temperatures to drop to around 50 degrees at daybreak.  Our record low is 48, set back in 1989.

Sunshine returns on Wednesday.  Another beautiful, comfortable day lies ahead.  Highs will be near 80 degrees.

Thursday will be dry during the day with plenty of sunshine and a high in the low 80s.  But Thursday night, we’ll watch a cold front arrive from the northwest.  But don’t get too excited, the chances of rain will be slight and the moisture will be paltry.  Even if we end up with measurable rain, it won’t be enough to dent our deficit.  We’re more than 3 inches below average in just the last two months!

Independence Day weekend looks fantastic… mostly sunny skies for Saturday, Sunday and the Fourth of July.  Temperatures will be in the upper 70s Saturday, low 80s Sunday and mid 80s Monday.

It goes without saying that everyone should be vigilant with fireworks this weekend, given our extremely dry ground, brush fires will ignite easily and spread incredibly fast.
