More wet weather possible, hot and humid again

Highs near 90, heat index in mid and upper 90s

DETROIT – Sunday will be the second day in a row of hot and humid weather with heat indices in the middle and upper 90s. Showers and thunderstorms are possible ahead of a cold front that is bringing less humidity.

Sunday morning will be hazy, warm and muggy. Temperatures will be in the 70s with a heat index of 80 degrees or more. Families will need to dress in light, loose-fitting closes to remain cool, comfortable and healthy all day for the Ann Arbor Art Fair, the Bell's Beer Bayview Mackinac Race festivities or services.

Temps will be near 85 degrees before the 1pm Tigers game against the Orioles at Comerica Park in downtown Detroit. Baseball fans will need to remember their sun screen and drink plenty of water to stay comfy and enjoy the game. Using air conditioned area frequently is a great idea, too.

Toward the end of the baseball game, after 3pm, showers and thunderstorms are possible ahead of a cold front. The National Weather Service has the Detroit area at a "Marginal Risk" (the lowest kind of risk) for strong to severe storms. Great risks of severe weather are in Ohio, southern Ontario and western Pennsylvania.

Showers and storms leave the Motor City area Sunday evening. Temperatures fall through the 80s and 70s.

Sunday night will be cooler and clearer with less humid air arriving. Lows will be in the middle and low 60s.

Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday will be sunnier and more comfortable while remaining warm. Afternoon temperatures will be between 80 and 85 degrees after morning lows in the 60s.
