Subfreezing temps expected for Sunday

Low temps will fall to upper 20s in city, mid-20s in some suburbs

DETROIT – Get ready for a subfreezing start to your Sunday. Low temperatures will fall to the upper 20s in the city and low to mid 20s in some of the suburbs.

This is not a killing freeze, so any newly planted trees or plants should be just fine.

Clear skies will be with us for most of Sunday, although we'll see some high clouds streaming in throughout the afternoon.

Highs will be in the mid to upper 40s closer to the big lakes on the east side, but near 50 degrees or just a bit warmer away from the water, winds SE 7 to 11 mph.

Monday will be about 10 degrees warmer with highs near 60 degrees under partly cloudy skies. This is the pick day of the next week.

It will be warmer again Tuesday, but afternoon rain and thundershowers will be moving through. Rain will linger into early Wednesday and then slightly cooler weather in the 50s will settle in for a couple of days.

Next weekend may start out wet, but it looks like we will finally turn the corner into some nicer and warmer spring weather. Let's keep our fingers crossed!
