Warm, windy start for Thursday

Some neighborhoods could reach 70 degrees

DETROIT –  A warmer and windy day ahead with some rain possible later in the afternoon. We start mild with temps in the 40s and into the 50s later in the morning.

Again, grab the sunglasses before you head out and the umbrella for the afternoon and early evening.

The winds will start cranking in the late morning hours through the afternoon SW 15-25 mph with gusts over 30 mph from time to time.

High temps will hit the upper 60s with a few neighborhoods possibly hitting 70° today!

The window for wet weather is 3 p.m. to 6 p.m. today as a cold front approaches. This is not a real strong cold front and will likely bring scattered rain and thunder with no threat of severe weather.

The evening hours will be mostly calm although computer models are hinting at a few showers possible again towards midnight.

Friday is a beautiful finish to the work and school week around SE Michigan with highs climbing back to around 60 to 65°. Friday also brings mostly to partly sunny skies and lighter winds SW 7-12 mph.

Saturday will be the better of the two weekend days hitting the mid to upper 60s with partly cloudy skies.

We will see scattered rain and thunder showers on Sunday as we try to climb back into the mid 60s. But this is a stronger cold front and may bring a few wet snowflakes as temps take a dive Monday and Tuesday.

We don't expect much snow but won't be surprised if Parts of SE Michigan receive a coating of snow early next week.
