PITTSBURGH – Former Michigan Wolverines linebacker Devin Bush Jr. was arraigned for allegedly assaulting his girlfriend, according to WKYC in Cleveland.
Reports indicated that Bush Jr. was arraigned on Friday (July 18) in Allegheny County, Pennsylvania, Common Pleas Court on charges related to the alleged assault, which occurred back in May of 2025.
A pre-trial hearing is set for Aug. 15 at 9 p.m., as Bush Jr. is facing charges of simple assault, a second-degree misdemeanor, and a summary offense of harassment.
The woman, according to our NBC affiliate, told police that Bush Jr. assaulted her and took her car keys before leaving the residence in Sewickley, a suburb of Pittsburgh.
Police said they arrived to find the victim had gone to a neighbor’s home.
As they began speaking with her, officials said Bush Jr. returned to the residence and was told to wait at the property.
Police said the victim told them that an argument began that morning over one of Bush Jr’s friends, which escalated over a mess in the kitchen.
Officials said she told them that Bush became more aggressive, prompting her to start recording the argument on her phone.
According to reports, Bush Jr. reportedly noticed he was being recorded and chased her through the house.
Bush, who currently plays for the Cleveland Browns, allegedly pinned the victim against a massage table in an office and used his body to retrieve her phone.
Reports indicated that the victim told police Bush Jr. smashed the phone and searched for her iPad to prevent her from contacting anyone.
During the alleged incident, police said the woman was able to escape with her daughter to a nearby neighbor’s home before they arrived at the scene.
Police said visible injuries were observed, which included a cut on her right wrist and an abrasion near her pinky toe.
Officials said Bush Jr. admitted to smashing her phone, but he denied getting physical with her.
Reports indicated that a Browns spokesman said the organization was aware of the situation and was gathering information.
