ANN ARBOR, Mich. – Michigan Wolverines quarterback Bryce Underwood shared insights on his development, leadership role, and team mindset after six games this season.
Underwood said he feels he has made his biggest leap in becoming a better leader each week.

“That’s one of my main goals going into each and every game,” said Underwood, adding that efficiency and executing play calls are key focuses.
When asked about challenges, Underwood said keeping the team levelheaded through ups and downs has been harder than expected.
“Just being us every single play is one of our biggest things we focus on during practice,” Underwood said.
Underwood credited teammate Mikey Keene for helping him stay mentally, physically, and emotionally strong.
“He’s been more of a leader for me, honestly, pushing me every single day to be the best,” Underwood said.
As a starting quarterback, Underwood said being vocal and keeping teammates’ spirits up during games are important parts of his leadership.
“Trying to keep smiles on the guys’ faces so we can keep our heads on straight,” Underwood said.
Underwood emphasized finishing strong and being the best team every snap as a message to himself and the team.
“Just finish,” Underwood said.
On improving his passing, Underwood said working closely with receivers to understand what they need helps him make more catchable throws.
Despite the noise and attention that comes with being a quarterback, Underwood stays focused by reminding himself of his main goal: “Being a Hall of Famer in the NFL.”
He acknowledged the pressure but views it as a blessing.
After games, Underwood watches film to stay mentally sharp and identify areas for improvement.
Underwood said the offense has executed well in some areas but still has much to work on.
When asked about the biggest hindrance to progress, Underwood said mental errors sometimes occur, but the team quickly moves on.
“We’ll pick it up on the next play,” Underwood said.
Underwood also praised teammate Andrew Marsh for taking advantage of opportunities and executing well in recent weeks.
On a lighter note, Underwood shared a funny moment about receiving a Batman mask from interim head coach Biff Poggi, which he wore only once because it felt too real and awkward.
Looking ahead, Underwood said he focuses on winning every day, believing consistent daily effort will help him reach his long-term goals.
Underwood expressed confidence in the team’s ability to win the rest of their games, citing the hard work they put in every day.
