ORLANDO, Fla. – The No. 18-ranked Michigan Wolverines have been dealing with a ton of off-the-field issues to end the year, but they’re finally on the football field as they’ll take on the No. 13-ranked Texas Longhorns inside Camping World Stadium for the Cheez-It Citrus Bowl.

Although they’re back on the field, they are without 13 players down in Orlando on Wednesday (Dec. 31) in the game’s 80th rendition.

The injury report came out minutes before kickoff, and Jaishawn Barham, Jacob Oden, Derrick Moore, Ernest Hausmann, Rod Moore, Justice Haynes, Mason Curtis, Max Bredeson, Andrew Sprague, Giovanni El-Hadi, Evan Link, Monuel Beigel, and Chibi Anwunah were listed as “out” for the bowl game.

But the possible return of running back Jordan Marshall could give some reassurance to the depleted backfield led by Bryson Kuzdzal in their last matchup against the Ohio State Buckeyes inside the Big House.

History

The Longhorns won both previous matchups: 38-37 in the 2005 Rose Bowl and 31-12 at Michigan Stadium in 2024.

The two teams are scheduled to play again at Darryl K. Royal Stadium in Austin on Sept. 11, 2027.

The Wolverines participated in a bowl game for the 54th time in school history.

Michigan has compiled a 24-29 bowl record, ranking 11th in NCAA appearances and tied for 16th in victories.

It was the Wolverines’ seventh appearance in the Citrus Bowl.

Michigan holds a 4-2 record in the Citrus Bowl.
