Suspects in custody after man found shot in Southfield

SOUTHFIELD, Mich. – Southfield police have two suspects in custody related to a deadly shooting that happened Sunday, Jan. 16 at the Kingswood Condominium complex in the area of 12 Mile and Evergreen roads.

Jalen William Smith, 18, and Tyler Maliek Allen, 18, both of Southfield, were arrested in connection with the shooting.

According to police, 21-year-old Joshua Harris of Southfield was shot and the car he was in rolled over. A 19-year-old Detroit man who was a passenger in the vehicle left the scene, but returned later. Police said the victims were meeting the suspects to purchase marijuana.

Smith and Allen are charged with felony murder, three counts of possession of a firearm in commission of a felony, two counts of armed robbery, assault with intent to murder and conspiracy to commit armed robbery.

Both men are being held without bond until their next court appearance on Jan. 30 at 1:30 p.m. at the 46th District Court.
