Racing into the annual Chevrolet Detroit Grand Prix

Here is where you can meet one of the racers

The NFL draft is not the only event coming to Detroit, the Chevrolet Detroit Grand Prix presented by Lear trails right behind, returning with its 1.7 miles circuit in Downtown Detroit. Tommy Milner, who is apart of the IMSA Weather-Tech Sportscar Championship, appeared on “Live In The D” to talk about racing and the event that’s brought him to town.

For Milner, he says, “It’s a lot of fun,” to be driving a Corvette as a race car, and it’s exciting to be in GM and Chevrolet’s hometown.

When it comes to the differences between driving a Corvette as a race car compared to the indy cars, “The cars are super fast. They’re meant for race tracks, but they’re also prepared for street tracks like this,” said Milner. They cars are also almost entirely built in Detroit.

Milner will be at the Red Wings game as they take on the Washington Capitals tonight. He will be in the Chevrolet courtyard with his race car. You can get the opportunity to get up close with the car and even talk to Milner.

“The atmosphere is very special for these street races,” he says when talking about what he is looking forward to about the event.
