Man in custody after 38-year-old wife killed

COMMERCE TOWNSHIP, Mich. – A 38-year-old woman is dead and her husband is in custody after an incident at a home Monday night in Commerce Township, according to the Oakland County Sheriff’s Department.

The couple’s 10-year-old child made the 911 call.

The child told authorities during the 911 call that the 36-year-old father was retrieving a knife. The father is a former team leader at Quicken Loans, according to officials at Quicken.

The homicide was reported at about 9:40 p.m. in the 1700 block of Applebrook Drive, near Huron Valley Hospital.

Deputies said they approached the home and saw the husband covered in blood. The husband opened the door and allowed the deputies into the home saying that his wife was dead, according to authorities.

The mother was found in the living room. She was taken to the hospital where she was pronounced dead. An autopsy is scheduled for Tuesday.

The couple’s three children were found on the second floor of the home. They were unharmed.

The husband was taken to the hospital with self-inflicted injuries and is in stable condition. He is being interviewed by the Special Investigations Unit and is under hospital watch by sheriff’s deputies.

A kitchen knife believed to have been used was found and the Oakland County Sheriff’s Office is continuing to investigate.
