9-year-old boy injured in crash on Detroit's west side

Police: Mother may have been under the influence

DETROIT – An 9-year-old boy is in critical condition after a crash on Detroit's west side where police said his mother is suspected of being under the influence.

The crash happened Thursday evening at the intersection of Greenfield Road and Margareta Avenue.

An older-model Jeep was heading southbound on Greenfield Road was making a left on to Margareta Avenue when it was rear-ended by a Chevy and then pushed into a Lincoln heading northbound.

The Chevy was driven by a woman police suspect was under the influence. Her boy was in the vehicle with her.

The mother and the other drivers were taken to the hospital with minor injuries.
