16-year-old boy shot by Detroit police in attempted robbery at CVS on city's west side

DETROIT – There's a police situation at the CVS store on McNichols and Wyoming on Detroit's west side. 

Detroit police confirm they received a call of an armed robbery in progress. Once on scene they confronted at least two of the suspected robbers inside the store.  

The suspected robbers fired at officers and officers returned fired.  

A 16-year-old boy was shot in the buttocks and another 16-year-old was detained.

"As (officers) entered the door they saw one suspect who they were able to take into custody. Another suspect was in the rear of the store, they started to follow the suspect. The suspect turned and started to fire shots at the officers. The officers returned fire. The suspect sustained multiple injuries," said Assistant Detroit Police Chief Arnold Williams.
