DETROIT – Two men face several charges in the alleged sexual assault March 5 at a west Detroit apartment building which went up in flames just hours later.
Carlos Love, 21, and Dantraz Oliver-McClung, 19, face three counts of criminal sexual conduct in the first degree and five counts of criminal sexual conduct assault with intent to commit criminal sexual penetration. They were arraigned over the weekend and are being held at the Wayne County Jail without bond, awaiting their next court date.
At 3:30 a.m. March 5, Detroit police said they responded to a complaint of a loud party and the possible sexual assault involving a 19-year-old at the Jason Manor apartments. At 5:55 a.m., the building manager called 911 to report the fire. Investigators later confirmed the fire was arson .
The apartments were fully engulfed in less than five minutes. Firefighters rescued about 25 people from the 41-unit building, while others jumped from windows to safety.
At least four people had to be taken to the hospital because of injuries they suffered from either jumping or because of burns.
No one has been charged in connection to the arson.
