DETROIT – Fear and worry gave way to joy Friday morning as two children who were missing and endangered were found safe.
"It was an eventful 12 hours here at the La Fer Apartments on Detroit's west side," said Detroit police Cmdr. Marlon Wilson. "Detroit Police, the FBI and Michigan State police all teamed up to look for the missing children and the story had they happy ending they'd hoped for."

Zamar Cox, 3, and Marcia Cox, 1, were reported missing by their mother when she went to the Detroit Police Department's 12th Precinct Thursday night. She said she gave the kids to their father on Tuesday, but he said he gave them back to her that same day at the home in the 900 block of Whitmore Road.
The kids were found safe Friday morning. They were taken to Children's Hospital to be checked out.
"The kids appear to have been given to a family member, and they were found unharmed," Wilson said. "Thanks to a tip from a community member we were able to get the location of the kids ... we're talking to the father and we will be interviewing the mother as well."
Wilson said it appears the mother gave the kids to a family member. The father said he didn't know where they were. Police began searching Thursday night and were out looking Friday morning.
Contrary to what police said about the mother reporting the kids missing Thursday night, Wilson said it was the father who actually reported them missing. He said it's unclear if there will be criminal charges.
"The father was alarmed because he didn't know the whereabouts of his kids, that's all," said Wilson.

Police said there was no sign of foul play at the apartment on Whitmore Road.
Police continue to investigate how neither parent seemed to know where the children were for more than a day, according to their conflicting stories.
But for now, the good news is Zamar and Marcia are safe with family.
