Lockdowns lifted for 2 Detroit schools after shots fired nearby

DETROIT – Two schools were on lockdown Tuesday afternoon in Detroit as police searched for a gunman who fired shots in the area.

Carstens Elementary-Middle School and the Davis Aerospace Technical High School at Golightly Career and Technical Center were on lockdown and have since been given the all-clear.

All students and staff are safe, according to Detroit Public Schools Community District. As a precautionary measure, the school was on lockdown until the all-clear was provided by police.

The district urged parents to remain away from the campuses until the area was secured.
