2 men face charges after report of clowns scaring customers at McDonalds, gas station in Hazel Park

Two men are in custody and facing charges after multiple complaints of a clown frightening customers at a gas station and scaring patrons at a McDonalds early Tuesday morning in Hazel Park.

Deonte J. Wiley, 22, of Clinton Township, and Aaron D. Williams, 21, of Detroit, are charged with disorderly conduct and driving with a suspended license. Wiley is also charged with open intoxication in a motor vehicle.

The Hazel Park Police Department began receiving 911 calls at about 4 a.m. about an individual wearing a clown mask and scaring customers away from a Mobil gas station on Nine Mile Road.

Police said the clown got into the passenger seat of a blue 2008 Saturn and drove to a McDonalds on Nine Mile Road where he allegedly approached multiple vehicles in the drive thru, knocking on windows and causing panic.

Officer located the vehicle soon after and both Wiley and Williams were detained. A clown mask was found in the back seat and an open container of alcohol was found in the vehicle, according to police.

Police said Wiley had an outstanding warrant out of Hazel Park and Williams had multiple outstanding warrants and a suspended license. Both were arrested, arraigned and given a $25,000 cash/surety bond.
