2 shootings take place within minutes 2 miles apart in Detroit

DETROIT – Two men were killed within two miles of each other Sunday.

The first shooting happened on Omira Street. Minutes later, another man was killed on Winchester near Derby.

Police said one of those men was driving when he was targeted. The victim's was found dead in his car after it crashed into a tree.

Grieving family members consoled one another, trying to make sense of the fatal shooting of yet another young man.

Vanessa Tart said her son, Lamar Perry, 24, was engaged to the mother of his 7-year-old daughter.

Detroit police said just before 1 p.m., Perry was driving a dark blue Century when he was shot multiple times. The vehicle ended up crashing into a tree.

While investigators responded to that scene, just a few blocks away at Winchester and Derby there was another shooting.

Police are asking anyone with information on the shootings to come forward
