2 teens charged in Ann Arbor restaurant owner's beating

ANN ARBOR, Mich. – Two teens have been charged as adults in the beating and robbery of an Ann Arbor restaurant owner.

Antonio Dante Young, 15, and Carmichael Chavis, 16, are accused of attacking 74-year-old Yong Kim on Aug. 25 at his restaurant, Mary's Fabulous Chicken and Fish.

"When I closed the store it was around 10:30 p.m. I get out to my car and somebody hit me," Kim told Local 4.

Kim said his wallet was stolen from him and he was hit so hard his eyes swelled shut. Bleeding from the head, he went to a nearby party store for help.

"There was a crack on his head," said party store owner Constantine Chiparus. "I didn't recognize him, and I've been their neighbor for eight years."

Kim needed stitches, but has since been released from the hospital.

Young and Chavis are facing charges of armed robbery, assault with intent to commit great bodily harm and assault with intent to rob while armed.
