2-year-old girl shot on Detroit's east side

Bullet went through wall of girl's home

DETROIT – A 2-year-old girl was shot Sunday evening on Detroit's east side, officials said.

The shooting happened in the 6000 block of Crane Street, police said. The girl was inside her house with relatives when shots were fired and one bullet hit her in her left buttock, police said.

The girl's mother said a bullet came from outside the home and hit the child, but police said evidence shows the bullet came from inside the home.

Police said several adults and children were in the home, but they are not being helpful in the investigation.

Two weapons were recovered from inside the house. It's not clear if the weapons were fired.

The shooting is believed to have been accidental.

The girl is listed in stable condition at the children's hospital.
