Lockdown at Birmingham schools tied to robbery of real estate agent

BIRMINGHAM, Mich. – Three elementary schools in Birmingham were briefly put on lockdown Tuesday after a real estate agent was robbed by a masked person in the basement of a home, police said.

Police said the agent told them she got a call from someone who wanted to see a home at 1750 Birmingham Boulevard. While she was in the basement taking pictures, a person wearing a mask entered and demanded her personal property, police said.

Beverly Elementary, Greenfield Elementary and Pierce Elementary were put on lockdown as a precaution while police searched for the masked person. Police haven't released a description.
