3 more current, former Detroit Public Schools principals arraigned on corruptions charges

DETROIT – Three more current and former Detroit Public Schools principals have been arraigned on conspiracy to commit bribery charges.

A federal judge entered "not-guilty" pleas Thursday for Ronnie Sims, Tia'Von Moore-Patton and Willye Pearsall.

They were released on bond. Three others were arraigned Wednesday.

Sims had been principal at Fleming Elementary and Brenda Scott Middle School. Moore-Patton is principal at Jerry L. White Center High School and Pearsall had been principal at Thurgood Marshall Elementary.

Each declined to comment Thursday to reporters.

A dozen principals, one school district administrator and a vendor were charged after fraudulent invoices were submitted for chairs, paper and other supplies in the financially-struggling district.

Five principals resigned before the investigation or due to the investigation. Current employees charged were placed on unpaid leave.
