32-year-old woman mysteriously killed at Ypsilanti Township apartment complex

Nina Battle found shot to death at apartment building

YPSILANTI TOWNSHIP, Mich. – A 32-year-old woman was found murdered inside her apartment Saturday afternoon, and police said her killer is still on the loose.

Officials said whoever killed Nina Battle came to her apartment, fired shots and left. Battle was found dead Saturday afternoon after having been shot.

Battle was found inside one of the units at the Fairway Trails apartment complex in Ypsilanti Township. Police said they don't have much information in the case, so they're asking for the community's help to fill in the holes.

An employee of the apartment complex said residents are concerned because the killer is still out there.

"She was really friendly," the employee said. "She always spoke."

The employee doesn't want to be identified, but she said she spoke to Battle on Friday afternoon.

"I saw her as she was leaving, and she was talking about going to the Jeezy concert," the employee said. "She had these cute little gold teeth with all these diamonds. She looked so cute."

The next day, authorities got a report of shots fired at the apartment complex on South Hewitt Street. When deputies arrived, they found Battle dead.

"That is unusual because it's quiet and nothing goes on here," a neighbor said.

Police have been collecting evidence at the apartment complex since Saturday afternoon.

"They had the yellow tape around the whole building and you had to talk to police before you come and had to verify your story," a neighbor said.

Battle's friends are upset that such a loving and caring person is now gone. Neighbors are concerned that the shooter hasn't been caught.

"I said, 'That's crazy. We've got to be in this building all the time and something like this happens, it doesn't feel safe,'" a neighbor said.

Anyone with information on the incident is asked to call police.
