33-year-old man shot on Detroit's west side; suspect taken into custody

DETROIT – Police investigated a shooting Wednesday morning where a 33-year-old man was shot on Detroit’s west side.

According to police, the victim approached a vehicle on Hazel Street, in the area of Grand River Avenue and Rosa Parks Boulevard, and asked for a cigarette. Shots were fired from the vehicle, striking the victim in the stomach.

The victim was taken to the hospital and his condition is unknown.

Police took a 48-year-old man into custody.
