40-year-old rescued from garbage truck in Harrison Township

HARRISON TOWNSHIP, Mich. – Firefighters rescued a 40-year-old man from a garbage truck Wednesday morning in Harrison Township.

The man told deputies that he was going through a dumpster being the United Methodist Church in Mt. Clemens when the truck lifted the dumpster and emptied its contents into the truck.

The garbage truck driver, a 36-year-old Southfield man, told deputies that he started his trash pick-up route at about 3 a.m. and after several stops he pulled into a McDonalds. He glanced at a camera monitor and saw an arm waving from inside the back of the truck. The driver immediately drove to the fire department.
