Bob Bashara pleads guilty to solicitation of murder charge

Grosse Pointe Park man accused of trying to have suspect in wife Jane Bashara's murder killed behind bars

DETROIT – A Grosse Pointe Park man who authorities say tried to hire a hit man to kill someone charged with his wife's murder has pleaded guilty.

Bob Bashara had been charged with solicitation to commit murder.

In court on Thursday, the 54-year-old said he "foolishly and regrettably" had offered to pay a man to find someone to kill Joe Gentz.

Gentz is the only person who faces murder charges in the death of Bob Bashara's wife  Jane Bashara.

Jane Bashara was found dead Jan. 25 in the back of her sports utility vehicle in a Detroit alley, one day after her husband had reported her missing.

Gentz is charged with first-degree murder.

Bob Bashara was slated to go to trial on the charge in November. He will now be sentenced on Nov. 20. He is facing up to life in prison.

Sources say Gentz has told investigators he was forced to kill the Grosse Pointe Park mother under the order of her husband.
