Rahim Lockridge Accused Of Choking To Death Wife In Front Of Children

SOUTHFIELD, Mich. – A 38-year-old Southfield man has been charged with murder on accusations he killed his wife in front of their three young daughters.

Southfield police said Rahim Lockridge is accused of choking his wife, 32-year-old Kenyatta Lockridge, to death Monday night in their home on Potomac Street.

Police said the couple's daughters, ages 8, 11 and 16, called 911 just before 10 p.m. saying they were trying to break up a fight between their parents. Kenyatta Lockridge was found unresponsive by medics and pronounced dead.

Lockridge's bond was denied at his arraignment on Thursday and he was ordered to have no contact with his children or any family members of the victim.

Lockridge has a history of previous domestic violence. He was charged with it in 2007 and again in November 2010, but that charge was later reduced to disorderly conduct.

Prosecutors said Lockridge had been drinking the night of his wife's death and was already on probation for previous offenses.

His next court hearing is Sept. 30.
