DETROIT – On Detroit's west side, family and friends are in search of answers. They are praying 33-year-old Tamala Wells, a Detroit mother who vanished one month ago safely returns home.
"My desire is to have my daughter back," said Donna Davis, Tamala's mom.
Davis has led an aggressive search for her daughter. Just across the street, on the 19000 block of Appleton Street is where Tamala was last seen alive. Her boyfriend says she left home in his white 4-door Pontiac Grand Prix. The car was found abandoned days later, but there was no sign of Tamala.
"I cannot breathe sleep, or do anything. Thinking about my daughter," said Davis.
Visibly absent from the prayer circle was Tamala's boyfriend, Ricky Tenant, who quietly watched the gathering from his front steps. He told us he feels he's been made out to be a suspect.
"My whole reaction to this thing is ridiculous. Because her mother is saying I've got something to do with this. I would never do something like this to Tamala. I don't know where Tamala is," Tenant told Local 4.
But someone knows something, and that's what keeps family and friends full of faith.
"People can see the desperation, they can see the honesty. They can see where I'm coming from and so they reunite with me and make a commitment and that gives me a lot of hope because I'm never going to give up on my child," said Davis.
