Acting mayor for Troy may be sworn in Friday

Mayor pro tem would replace recalled mayor Janice Daniels

Troy Mayor Janice Daniels lost her elected seat when voters approved a recall on Nov. 6, 2012.

TROY, Mich. – The city of Troy is expected to get a new acting mayor Friday after this week's recall of Mayor Janice Daniels.

Daniels was recalled after a series of clashes stemming from controversial posts on her Facebook page and her stance against a federally-funded transit center.

Current city council member and mayor pro tem Maureen McGinnis is in line to become acting mayor. Swearing-in ceremonies are expected to take place Friday.

Then, the Troy city council will have 30 days to select a new mayor, McGinnis would be one of the people under consideration.

 Voters would select a new mayor in November of 2013 to complete the final to years of Daniels' four-year term.
