DETROIT - The Detroit Fire Department is investigating a Saturday morning fire as arson on the city's west side.

The families inside the occupied homes saw the flames and smelled the smoke, and were able to escape from the blaze in time. Only one woman was hospitalized for smoke inhalation, and no other injuries were reported.

Both families were displaced by the fires, and the Salvation Army has been helping them with needs they may have.
