ATM stolen from Warren gas station

WARREN, Mich. – The video is as clear as the sky was on Monday in Warren.

It shows three men breaking into a Marathon gas station and stealing the ATM.

"They hooked that chain on the handle. The just ripped it off and it fell down. Lucky me they didn't break the glass," said Ahmed Al-Battat, the gas station owner.

The thieves used a Jeep Cherokee to rip off the front door before wrapping the chain around the ATM.

"They cover their faces. They're wearing gloves. They even covered their license plate. They know exactly what they do," said Al-Battat.

As soon as the vehicle is loaded, the thieves take off, but not before one of them slams the tailgate on his partner's head.

"I don't know exactly how much is in there, but I heard they have a tracking device on it," said Al-Battat.

Warren Police Commissioner Jere Green said customers were complaing the ATM was empty on Sunday. He said it's very likely the machine had little to no cash inside.

"It takes a lot of work to get into one of these ATMs. They're pretty well fortified so they're going to have to go inside a house, do a lot of work and hopefully when they open it, well, I wish we could have video of their disappointed faces," said Green.

Police still want to find these thieves. Anyone with information on this crime or information on the men shown in the video should contact Warren police.
