Black couple in Roseville was sent racially charged letter, police say

Michigan State Police processing fingerprints found on envelope

ROSEVILLE, Mich. – Roseville police are investigating a racially charged letter that was sent to a black couple.

In a statement, Police Chief James Berlin said the couple recently moved to a home on Florida Street, and received the unmarked letter on Saturday.

The letter had two derogatory terms with a red line through them, police said.

The couple told police they hadn't had any other problems in the neighborhood prior to the letter.

Police said they processed the letter for fingerprints, and have sent them to the Michigan State Police Crime Lab.
