Blitzing blight on Detroit's west side A second look at the crew who is clearing unsightly blight around the city No description found
DETROIT – An army of blight busters are cleaning up a portion of Detroit’s west side today.
You can’t miss them. They’re in maize and blue.
100 students from the University of Michigan school of business are teaming up with Brightmoor “camera crusader,” Jonathan Pommerville to pick up huge piles of illegal dumping.
Here, Pommerville shows us what’s going on and how the students got hooked up with him.
Local 4 first featured Pommerville as he confronts illegal dumpers in the city with his camera. Today’s effort comes at a west side corner of Outer Drive near Schoolcraft.
A company there says dumpers continue to use the street behind the business as a dumping site. Pommerville and the students want the business to stay in Detroit, so they are cleaning up piles of materials dumped there.
So, why would a college student do this dirty and hard work?
Here’s a recent report we did of Pommerville using his power of social media to get a tree company to come out and clean up a mess an employee left behind.
It’s all about teaming up to fight blight. One man’s mission has truly become a cause that you can get involved with.
