Coast Guard rescues small children from Lake St. Clair

Macomb County Sheriff's Department confirms everyone safely rescued

ST. CLAIR SHORES, Mich. – The Coast Guard was called to the waters of Lake St. Clair Monday morning after several reports that a man had been thrown from his vessel and into the water and his two young children were left alone on the boat.

The father stated that he was taking his 3 and 4 year old daughters for a boat ride in a small watercraft when the boat stalled. He was then thrown from the boat due to the 4 foot waves. The boat drifted north and he swam to shore. The boat was found anchored near Jefferson Beach marina taking on water. The U.S. Coast Guard rescued both children from the boat. They were taken to shore and were evaluated by Paramedics. All three were uninjured. The Father and both children were wearing life jackets. The incident is currently under investigation.
