Suspect in Oxford Township deadly hit-and-run released until test results come back

Jordyn Puckett's body found Tuesday morning on Drahner Road

OXFORD TOWNSHIP, Mich. – The suspect in a hit-and-run that killed a 26-year-old Orion Township woman has been released pending toxicology results, the Oakland County Sheriff's Office said.

The 19-year-old Macomb Township man turned himself in Tuesday, but was released until further forensic examinations are complete, the Sheriff's Office said.

The man is accused of hitting Jordyn Brooke Puckett as she walked late Monday night on Drahner Road near Olive Drive in Oxford Township. He didn't stay at the scene, and a newspaper worker found Puckett's body early Tuesday morning, the Sheriff's Office said.

Puckett had been in a car with friends but got out when an argument erupted and refused to get back in, instead walking east on Drahner around 9:30 p.m., the Sheriff's Office said.

Puckett's body was found about a mile from where her friends said she got out of the car, the Sheriff's Office said.

Any witnesses to the crash are asked to call the Oakland County Sheriff's Office tip line at 888-TURN-1-IN.
